Start With The Objective

Drakantos PvP Arena has 3 modes: Control, Escort and Assault. Read the objective before judging a hero or build. A pick that feels strong in one mode can feel awkward when the win condition, map pressure or artifact-charge rules change.

The May 2026 beta baseline uses 3v3 arena matches across Control, Escort and Assault on a pool of 13 maps.

Before The Match Starts

The match setup shows the character, map and game mode before play begins. Use that information as the first filter:

  1. Mode: Are you playing Control, Escort or Assault?
  2. Map: Does the objective ask for point control, shard movement or lane pressure?
  3. Artifact rules: Control and Escort halve artifact charges with a 3-minute cooldown. Assault uses regular artifact charges.
  4. Build goal: Choose Orbs, Artifacts, Trophies and Equipment for the objective, not only for the hero name.

PvP Mode Comparison

ModeHow you winWhat to learn firstArtifact rule
ControlReach 100% control point capture.Point positions and when to stay on the objective.Charges are halved with a 3-minute cooldown.
EscortPush your shard farther than the enemy after 2 rounds.Push zone, stop zone and round timing.Charges are halved with a 3-minute cooldown.
AssaultDestroy the enemy core by pushing through towers.Lane pressure, minions, neutral monsters and the boss buff.Regular charges apply.

Control

Control is the capture mode. Your team fights over control points and wins by reaching 100% capture progress. Maps may have one or two control points, so check the map layout before the match starts.

The first mistake to avoid is chasing fights away from the point. Control rewards point presence. If your team leaves the objective for too long, the capture race can slip even when the fight looks good.

Escort

Each team takes a turn escorting a shard. The shard moves forward when your team stays near it and stops when enemy players are inside the push zone. After both teams have attacked, the team that pushed farther wins. Each round lasts 2 minutes.

Escort tests push timing. Stay close enough to move your shard, then contest the enemy push at the right time. The key question is not only who wins fights, but which team moves the shard farther across the 2 rounds.

Assault

Assault is the MOBA-style PvP mode. Teams push through towers to reach and destroy the enemy core. Minions, neutral monsters, healing plants and a middle boss buff appear on the map.

Assault is the longer mode. The May 2026 beta baseline expects matches around 15 minutes, with greater rewards than the shorter modes.

The practical difference is that Assault asks for more than direct fights. Watch lane pressure, neutral monsters and the middle boss buff because they are part of the objective layer, not background scenery.

How Modes Change Builds

Mode rules change build value. The clearest May 2026 beta example is artifact charge behavior:

ModeArtifact charge ruleBuild meaning
ControlCharges are halved with a 3-minute cooldown.Plan around fewer active artifact uses while fighting for point presence.
EscortCharges are halved with a 3-minute cooldown.Save artifact value for push or stop moments rather than every small fight.
AssaultRegular charges apply.Artifact uptime can matter across a longer lane-push match.

Use this as a mode rule, not as a best-artifact, best-hero or best-loadout answer. Good PvP build advice should name the mode before making a recommendation.

Use Mode Rules As Context

Use the mode rules to choose a first plan before the match starts. Keep map routes, hero rankings and reward planning separate until the current game status gives enough detail for those decisions.

  • Map routes: the beta baseline confirms 13 PvP maps. Use the map shown before the match as part of your plan, but do not follow route advice that lacks map names, layouts or objective paths.
  • Hero picks: hero value depends on the mode objective and map pressure. Treat mode rules as context for comparing heroes, not as a complete mode-by-mode tier list.
  • Rewards: Assault is described as longer with greater rewards in the May beta baseline. Check the current status before planning around reward amounts.

What To Check Next

Before you lock in a hero or build, verify:

  1. The mode objective. Control is point presence. Escort is coordinated push-and-stop. Assault is lane pressure and core destruction.
  2. The map. Objective positions and lane pressure change how each mode plays.
  3. Your artifact charges. Control and Escort halve artifact charges with a 3-minute cooldown. Assault uses regular charges.
  4. Your build goal. Pick Orbs, Artifacts, Trophies and Equipment that fit the mode, not just the hero.
