Choose By Mode First
Pick a first Drakantos hero by the mode you want to learn. PvP rewards quick reads, map awareness and objective pressure. PvE rewards a hero you can pilot through quests, dungeons, bosses and repeated enemy patterns.
The best first hero is not always the strongest hero on a beta tier list. It is the hero that lets you understand combat without fighting the controls, timing or role.
A Simple First-Pick Checklist
- Can you understand what the hero is trying to do in one fight?
- Does the hero fit the mode you are actually playing?
- Can you see when a skill worked or missed?
- Does the build path look clear enough to improve later?
- Are you comparing that hero against the same mode and patch window?
Use The Beta Roster Carefully
The Beta Hero Roster gives the May 2026 roster names. Use it to choose who to test, then wait for mode-specific pages before treating a hero as a permanent best pick.
When A Tier List Helps
A tier list helps when it names the mode, patch window and build assumptions behind the ranking. A generic ranking is much weaker in Drakantos because hero value changes across PvP, adventure progression, build pieces and party goals.
